I was at the park this morning and saw the park board guy getting the ponds ready for water. He said they should be up and running on Thursday. The park near me has seven ponds that run through it. This is a picture from last summer. The running of the water is one of those signs that summer is here. Of course this year they could have opened the pond in March.
So here are the signs in my life that winter has ended: 1) the top goes down on the car; 2) the ponds are filled and the water is running; and 3) I shave my legs. Only one of these signs involves the spilling of blood which I now equate with the traditional sacrifice to the gods of spring only in my case no lambs are hurt during this event.
